PUBG takes Fortnite to court

  1. PUBG has filed a lawsuit against Epic Games for having infringed copyright through the Fortnite game.

    After PUBG Corp sued NetEase for copyright infringement through 2 games Rules of Survival and Knives Out , the Korean gaming company continues to point at Fortnite. This Battle Royale game, the biggest rival of PUBG, will have to face allegation about copyright infringement as PUBG Corp has filed a lawsuit to Seoul District Court.

    Epic Games released Fortnite: Battle Royale in September last year, and soon after BlueHole, the parent company of PUBG Corp, expressed dissatisfaction with Epic Games‘s behavior. The representative of Bluehole said that with their cooperation and having paid Epic Games a large franchise fee (because it owns Unreal Engine 4), that Epic Games releases a Battle Royale product like PUBG is very disturbing.

    In fact, Fortnite was not originally a Battle Royale product. This game follows the direction of an open world with the goal of letting players fight with zombies. But when PUBG became famous, Epic Games suddenly added new mode and that leads to great controversy between two game developers. When Fortnite Battle Royale is officially released, the community of gamers can hardly overlook the similarities between the two products.
